SAVE THE CINEMA FILM

Today is a very proud day in the history of Carmarthen and District Youth Opera.

Today sees the release in cinemas and on Sky TV of ‘Save the Cinema’  – a film based on our inspirational founder the late Liz Evans’ courageous battle to save the Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen.

We know that the film will bring back fond memories for former cast members, our loyal band of volunteers and especially for Liz and Davids’s proud sons, Huw, Mark and Wynne.

The film will be shown on Sky TV and also very fittingly at the Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen for the next fortnight – tickets can be booked at the Lyric by clicking on the following link

A fabulous documentary has also been produced by Sky to accompany the film – ‘Save the Cinema – Behind the Curtain’. This gives an insight into the whole background of the film. It details Liz’s fight and determination and the invaluable support she received from a loyal band of volunteers (some of whom take part in the documentary) and the local community. It also has interviews with Huw, Mark and Wynne Evans and some of the stars of the film.
