Since our inception in 1979, there have been many memorable highlights and significant milestones in our proud history. Prominent among these is our Royal Patronage.

To help us celebrate our 30th Anniversary, an invitation was extended to Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to a short musical performance at the Lyric Theatre, Carmarthen.

The invitation was accepted and, on the 30th June 2010, Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed to the theatre and later onto the stage, where they met our young cast members and some of our adult volunteers. An invitation to become our Patron had been extended to Her Royal Highness, and it was to the delight of our young people, volunteers and our audience, that the acceptance was formally announced in person from the stage.

Her Royal Highness again helped us celebrate our 40th Anniversary, attending a short performance at the Lyric in July 2019, cutting the cake on stage and meeting our cast and volunteers. Commemorative plaques in the Lyric Theatre foyer record both visits.

Her Royal Highness, throughout the Patronage, has kept a close and keen interest in the work we do with young people, and her congratulatory message in our annual programme is always much appreciated by our young cast, our adult volunteers and the community at large.

In addition, our young cast, together with a small number of volunteers have been invited on several occasions to our Patron’s home near Llandovery, Carmarthenshire, to perform for Her Royal Highness and invited guests. Wonderful and memorable experiences.

Royal Patronage is an honour we value highly, and we are extremely grateful to Her Royal Highness for the confidence placed in us and for awarding us such a wonderful accolade.
