Half Term Update
We hope that everyone is staying safe during these difficult times.
Traditionally, February Half Term week is always show week for Carmarthen Youth Opera and Tuesday is very often our opening night.
Who would have thought as we opened ‘My Fair Lady’ a year ago, how much the world would change!
Sadly, due to the ongoing pandemic, we had to make the difficult decision last year to postpone ‘Shrek the Musical’ to February Half Term 2022. At present, there is a lot of planning going on behind the scenes so that we can hopefully make this happen – however due to the ongoing restrictions, we will have to review the situation again in a few months and decide whether the Show can go ahead – the safety of our cast, crew and audiences is paramount – and as soon as a decision has been made, we will let everyone know.
We know that all of us at CYO have missed the Sunday rehearsals and the build up to what is always a fantastic week for everyone.
The Lyric Theatre has been a hive of activity in recent weeks as Sky have been filming ‘Save the Cinema’ a film based on the founder of Youth Opera – Elizabeth Evans MBE’s life and her fight to save the Lyric Theatre.
Some of our cast (and our Production Team) have been involved with the filming and we are very much looking forward to seeing the film when it is released.
We know that for many of our supporters and sponsors, the last year has been especially difficult and indeed continues to be so.
We would again like to ask our loyal followers to continue to support all the local businesses who have always so readily assisted us over many years.
We have also been working on a special project over the last few months and will be making an announcement about this in the coming weeks – please keep an eye out for this.
